The potential to tap the Cooper Basin’s unconventional oil and gas resources provides Drillsearch with a number of longer-dated opportunities to create shareholder value.
Drillsearch’s acreage has the potential for unconventional resources across the Northern and Western Patchawarra Trough regions, and in the Central Unconventional (Nappamerri Trough) area, often in conjunction with conventional oil and wet gas prospects and discoveries.
In the Northern Patchawarra, Drillsearch and partner Santos plan to drill the Washington-1 well in the PEL 570 permit acquired through the Ambassador Oil and Gas takeover. Washington-1 will test the Permian Source Rocks in the permit.

In the Western Patchawarra, Drillsearch and its partners in two separate joint venture areas, Santos and Beach, have identified potential for unconventional pay in a number of successful conventional gas exploration wells.

The recent focus of Drillsearch’s Unconventional operations has been its exploration campaign in the Nappamerri Trough with partner QGC (BG Group). The Central Cooper joint venture has drilled four deep exploration wells, with two of those wells, Charal-1 and Anakin-1, successfully hydraulically stimulated and tested. Drilling in the permit was underpinned by the largest 3D seismic survey ever conducted onshore Australia. Analysis of the results of those wells is continuing.
